SkillsActive leads on a number of consultations and undertakes research on behalf of the sector. This ranges from seeking views on new or revised national occupational standards to employer surveys on understand skills, training and recruitment issues. The results of these consultations and surveys provide the sector with a better understanding of what the key issues are that needs addressing to improve performance; plus, the evidence base to support solutions that are put forward. Playwork Strategy

SkillsActive is currently undertaking a consultation its UK strategy for playwork, education, training and qualifications.

National Occupational Standards for Tackling Crime through Sport

We are working with a range of partners across the sector and a steering group of industry experts to develop national occupational standards for using sport to tackle crime. This work has now progressed to a stage where a draft suite of national occupational standards (NOS) for tackling crime through sport are available for consultation.

Elite Sport Officials National Occupational Standards

We are looking for feedback on the development of National Occupational Standards at Level 4 for Officiating, which SkillsActive are working with Sports Officials UK to produce.

Playwork National Occupational Standards

We are consulting on four new national occupational standards (NOS) units that have been recently drafted for inclusion in the Play and Playwork suite. The NOS have been drafted as a result of work with a number of key stakeholders as part of a review of the current Play and Playwork standards.

Sports Coaching National Occupational Standards

SkillsActive is working with sports coach UK and a number of key stakeholders to produce new National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Sports Coaching.

Sport and Exercise Scientist National Occupational Standards

During 2008/2009 SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for active leisure and learning completed a feasibility study to establish the need for a set of national occupational standards in the area of sport and exercise science.

Common Core

The Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the Children's Workforce sets out the basic skills and knowledge needed by those whose work brings thenm into regular contact with children, young people and families. At the moment a review is being undertaken of the Common Core and SkillsActive is encouraging those that work with children and young people to take part in the consultation.
